Denis Is Already a DJ!

NufaruMusic is a young and dynamic team, made of Denis Popa and Florin Chifor, each of them being very passionate about what they do. Denis Popa, who is student in our school, in class 10A, at the department of English Philology, is already an entrepreneur who stands on his own two feet. He says that he treats every event with the same seriousness, be it a baptism of 40 people, a wedding or a party of 300 people. The event DJs from NufaruMusic know exactly how to satisfy the musical tastes of all guests at a wedding, an 18th birthday party, a baptism, etc. The DJ will now share the secrets of his skills and give practical advice for the world.

Reporter: Why have you chosen weddings, not clubs?

Denis Popa: I began my career working as a DJ in a small club. Florin Chifor, a mate of mine, was working as a wedding DJ and was looking for an assistant. With the money that we earned we bought our first active speakers, mixer, lasers, a smoke machine and a bubble machine. The customers liked my performance and I decided to become an event DJ.

The professions of a club DJ and a wedding DJ are two different things, despite the fact that both play music and guarantee the good mood at an event. I have chosen the latter given that in Oradea there are plenty of club DJs and it is easy to get lost among them. Club DJs should be prescribed milk for the harm to which they are exposed- they work in unsanitary conditions: loud noise and a lot of cigarette smoke.

Being a club DJ is much easier. In the club you are usually surrounded by the familiar faces of your classmates and you can feel the support of loyal visitors and guests. You almost always manage to entertain the young people who are already in the mood to spend a nice evening and, thus, easily enter the rhythm of club activities.

The wedding DJ, or more correctly, the event DJ, works in a completely different atmosphere, and his/her duties include much more than just playing music. A DJ in this context is a sound and light technician at the same time. His work is associated with difficulties in installing and configuring the equipment, but these aspects make this job even more interesting. You entered an empty hall before the event; you are given a 220 volt outlet, the rest is up to you.

Reporter: Is there a song that is never absent from any of your events?

Denis Popa: No doubt, Lou Bega – “Mambo no. 5 “. On the second place in Oradea are the collective dances, such as “Meneaito”, “Lambada”, “Macarena” and ”The dance of the penguin”. By the way, not everyone knows, but “The dance of the penguin“comes from the dance called Letka-Jenka, which was very popular in the 60s. There are also songs that are popular just for one season, as were this autumn „Ai Se Eu Te Pego” by Michel Telo or „Vara nu dorm” by Connect-R.

Reporter: How can the musical tastes of all guests be satisfied?

Denis Popa: Here you need to behave as a psychologist, as well. At weddings and other private events you have to quickly adapt to your audience and provide good mood to all guests aged between 5 and 70, with different musical preferences and of different nationalities. This can be done, but you need some experience to know what track to include in the playlist next, according to the mood of the guests in the room. In addition, you must have a large collection of music and mobile internet, with which you can quickly find any ordered song.

Reporter: What should young people remember when choosing a DJ to play music?

Denis Popa: First, you should discuss with your parents or godparents (if it is a wedding) in advance in order to establish a common scenario and a favorite music style. The first question is whether to choose live music or a DJ for the wedding. The truth is that any music band has a limited repertoire, so even the best musicians include a soundtrack disk from time to time. But even in these cases the client will have to pay at least 1,000 Euros per night. Therefore, you can either invite more musical groups at the same time, which can offer a vast musical repertoire, or just invite a professional DJ! Of course, the energy off live music cannot be replaced. Therefore, for example, I work in collaboration with singers and musicians. It is customary at anniversaries nowadays to invite a DJ for the whole night and a well-known singer who plays for an hour or two, or a DJ and a violinist and a saxophonist. This way you get live music and the best price at the same time.

Secondly, parents sometimes wonder if the DJ will be good because he is generally associated with the “boom-boom-boom”, that is club music. They are partly right, as not all club DJs are able to maintain the quality musical accompaniment of a regular wedding.

Thirdly, you should start looking for a DJ at least several months before the event because, for example, I usually have all the events planned for the next six months.

Also, I advise you not to take small children with you to evening activities. By the way, because of all the small children left unattended, I had to equip all the equipment with special safety covers. Imagine: a wedding in full swing, guests dancing cheerfully and then … bang, and everything stops because a child left unattended pushed the shiny button on the amplifier. Children need constant supervision; otherwise neither parents nor guests will relax. On our website, http://www.NufaruMusic.ro, you can find us with pictures, videos and offers.
