As if we all lived in cities

Agricultural activity decreased greatly in recent years in Romania. It’s embarrassing to walk by the many lands and see just grass on them, without anyone to care.

At the time of Ceausescu, the earth was proud of the Romanians, each man was proud of the land they were cultivating, so that they could be considered hardworking. To be honest, there were other times, a man from Romania could live decently from agriculture. Then you didn’t see land that was not tilled, but today thousands of acres are forgotten. Maybe because today all the tools you need are very expensive, fuel is very expensive, and a pensioner of the country can not afford to give the little pension he has to work their land. Some people would like to work land, but do not have money and opportunities, others have money and opportunities, but will not do this.

Before 1989, students were taken from school to pick corn during practical activities, to cut wheat and more. There were very many in our vineyards, orchards of apples, lands with vegetables. Today, people have only knowledge of the city. If you tell a student something about agriculture and how to work more for more, he will give you an ugly look. This is the main reason why today few people work the land.

We have many treasures in Romania and, most certainly, if we focus more on agriculture, we will have a richer country than in the present moment, but we don’t seem to care. (MĂDĂLINA MIHEŞ)
