Dear Sirs and Madams,
I am a 16 years old high school student from Onisifor Ghibu National College Oradea and I’m writing to express my concern regarding the recent decision to prohibit the use of smartphones during classes. On one hand, I understand the intention behind this rule, on the other hand I believe it puts a spoke in our wheel.
Firstly, as digital natives, we already have the basic digital skills, but banning smartphones and impending the development of those skills can lead to ending up in menial jobs because we live in a world where digital skills must be basic knowledge for most jobs.
Secondly, please consider the fact that smartphones can be essential tools for learning due to the very easy access to information and educational apps that many teachers incorporate into their teaching methods.
Moreover, banning smartphones can negatively affect safety and communication. In unexpected situations or emergencies, mobile phones are crucial for staying in contact with parent or authorities. To put it briefly, this restriction could limit our ability to react swiftly in emergencies.
All things considered, I think there should be a balance between traditional teaching methods and modern methods involving the use of technology.
I would be very grateful if you could consider this letter.
Sincerely,
Iasmina Marinău
